Dear Exporting Friends
Another milestone has been reached and thank you to MSC for announcing the continuance of the AMEX service post October 2025.
As EWC has been in discussion with the lines in view of Maersk’s announcement that they are withdrawing from the direct service, currently code sharing with MSC, come October.
The AMEX direct service was one of the major reasons for the growth in this trade lane, becoming the most profitable export market from the Western Cape, with a weekly direct service, Cape Town – New York (Newark) transit time 16/18 days!
Not only will this service continue, but it will also be enhanced with the addition of 4 new vessels, good news for the PoCT as well, adding to its berth usage every week.
Accolades all around!! Now we just need President Trump to play ball! (EWC is working n that as well!)
Tuesday 3rd is another milestone for EWC as we present our case before the Portfolio Committee on Transport on the objections lodged on the Merchant Shipping Bill, which if passed, would have a major negative impact on all our businesses!
The outcome of this will be heard the following Tuesday, 10th June, so watch this space!
EWC next function is planned for Wednesday, 27th June – we are in the process of finalizing the speaker and venue.
Keep exporting!
