Dear Friends

Too late! Too late! Came the cry!

The clock has ticked past the bewitching hour and now we must face the consequences of the 30% reciprocal tariff that is affected from midnight tonight!

The resultant job losses can put squarely at the feet of National Government, who, thanks to their ineptitude, will see South Africa’s growth rate falter.

This is why we, as Exporters Western Cape, have invited President Trump to visit the Western Cape and to drink in our beauty (and wine!) and then appreciate the importance of our trade with the USA is!

Watch this space – we will also have Ministers Barbara Creecy and Parks Tau within the next few months, on our stage! And we honour our ladies at our special Woman’s Day Event in August.

The ray of sunshine amongst all this is our Port, as CTCT is functioning at 100% and reaching levels last seeing a few years ago.

The Terminal Stats as follows: (week 21 – 27/07)

* CTCT : 19007 TEU Handled (target 14000); 17GCH (target 19); SWH 38.4 (target 40); 27% Stack occupancy, 339 Rail moves – no berthing delays

Our citrus exports have reached record levels and as of last week, there were in excess of 3 million cartons on the water (in containers, of course)

YTD we are up 12% from last year, and moved a total 12000 containers last year.

Until we meet again!

Yours in exporting!
