We are sharing the latest version of the cargo report.
Some highlights discussed this week include the following:

1. Record throughput in September – system-wide performance:
a. For the first time, all figures reported in Table 1 and Figure 1 are in the green — signalling broad-based improvement across the logistics network and renewed momentum in port performance.
b. Container volumes rose by +18% (m/m) and +10% (y/y), bulk cargo by +26%, and vehicle throughput by an exceptional +57%, setting new post-pandemic and all-time records.
c. The rebound reflects deliberate interventions – the (1) rollout of new equipment, (2) better hinterland-terminal-waterside alignment, and (3) enhanced stakeholder collaboration – marking a decisive shift toward reliability, competitiveness, and a re-energised logistics network.
2. Global context & record throughput:
a. Global trade momentum remains broadly positive, with the IMF projecting world output to expand by +3,2% in 2025 before easing slightly in 2026.
b. Containerised trade reached record throughput levels in August, up +0,8% (m/m) and +2,8% (y/y).
3. BMA operations at ORTIA remain a concern:
a. Persistent operational strain within the Border Management Authority and Port Health continues to impede weekend and after-hours cargo processing, particularly for perishables and pharmaceuticals.
b. Chronic resource and capacity shortages – including suspended overtime and limited inspection capability – underscore the urgent need for coordinated national intervention and long-term reform at critical border points.
