Dear Friends
This is the final round-up of our ‘almost ‘ weekly reports and you may notice that we’ve gone from the Good News Friday to a weekly report as it’s not always easy to just focus on the good news, however continue, we shall!
The top of this week’s good news is the partnership deal between Transnet and International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI) has been signed in Durban, effective 01 January 2026
Even though this applies to the Port of Durban, it bodes well for the PoCT as we can recall that TNPA in previous years was against any form of PPP and now here we are!!!
Visualize CTMPT going into a PPP and the potential of this when CTCT goes windbound! We would have a PP – perfect port! With the most scenic mountain backdrop, to boot!
On the CTMPT side, our sources have heard that there are major challenges on the landside, with the lack of equipment, with only one crane in operation, handling both import and export boxes – we ask the powers that be to look into this as a matter of urgency.
As EWC we were at the forefront of the campaign for the lines to utilize CTMPT as there were weeks when no vessels called at the terminal, now this?!
When we return on 8th January, we are hoping that the current issues will have been resolved and we can assure you that we are always fighting for YOU – our valued member and friend.
Stay safe, stay well – may peace, happiness & joy be with you through this special time of year.
Kind Regards
Sincerely
Terry
