SARS: NEW DEVELOPMENTS + FEMALE UPLIFTMENT INITIATIVE

SPEAKERS:

We had the pleasure of hosting our May event at Encore Restaurant @ Northlink College where we had the privilege of hearing from Nicci Scott, CEO of the Commercial Transport Authority, who passionately discussed the importance of female upliftment in the transport and logistics sector. Her insightful presentation highlighted the significance of creating job opportunities for women and empowering them through continuous support and education in this field. It was an enlightening session that emphasised the value of diversity and inclusivity within the industry. She also emphasised the importance of improving the well-being of commercial drivers in South Africa with the SaferStop Association.

We were also delighted to have Clifford Evans return to give us an unexpected update related to his October EWC Event presentation. He enthusiastically shared updates that will significantly impact the importing and exporting industry. Some of the topics he covered were:

  • The publication of Tariff determination
  • The review of the Prohibited & Restricted List (A personal victory for Clifford as he had a massive role to play in the implementation of this change )
  • The “Single window” pilot system is currently up and running.

It was a fascinating update about some positive changes being implemented by SARS, highlighting a promising future for the industry and hopefully instilling a sense of optimism.
