Breaking into the Saudi Arabia market

It was an excellent & informative first event for EWC to kick off 2023!
Focused on the exciting possibilities and opportunities between South Africa and Saudi Arabia. (Following President Ramaphosa’s visit and the subsequent 17 MOUs signed during this visit.)
We were honoured to have Karan Beef Director Matthew Karan speak to us about the newly established “South African Saudi Arabian Business Council”, in which he holds the seat for Chair of Agribusiness foods, one of the five working groups of the Council, and the exciting opportunities the councils bring. He also further spoke about the bright future the partnership between our two countries holds for us all in South Africa and the growth potential.
Agricultural Economist Bhekani Zondo from National Agricultural Marketing Council joined us virtually and emphasized the potential of breaking into the Saudi Arabia market. He specifically focused on bilateral trade patterns between Saudi Arabia and us, the opportunities for exporting our fresh fruit, and the expansion within this industry. His analysis revealed South African fresh fruit producers’ high potential to expand their market share into Saudi Arabia of edible fruits, specifically fresh citrus, some stone fruits and pineapples, to name a few.
EWC is rightfully excited about the potential an ever-growing Saudi Arabian and South African partnership holds.
