Linda Bird-Duxbury highlighted the uncertainty surrounding AGOA and recent U.S. tariff measures, emphasising the importance of compliance and the need for exporters to diversify their markets in an increasingly fluid environment.
Keynote speaker Nick Dreyer shared valuable insights on the challenges of traditional export models, noting that while South Africa has world-class products, access to global markets remains a key hurdle. He introduced a more agile, digitally enabled approach to exporting, designed to improve scalability and reduce risk.
Locally, Gareth Ramsay addressed the importance of infrastructure, stressing that improved transport solutions will be essential for Cape Town to support future trade and growth.
Closing the evening, EWC CEO Terry Gale reinforced the need for agility and alignment between trade policy, business strategy, and infrastructure to remain competitive.
