The impact of the delays at Durban Gateway Terminal are having a huge impact on our port – look at the number of vessels alongside both CTCT and CTMPT is proof of this.
We are acutely aware of the cost to the Western economy as being a reliable supply source and orders that cannot be fulfilled and deadlines met!
Why does Cape Town have to suffer? EWC brought this question to the weekly stakeholders and the Port Liaison Forum yesterday – TNPA is acutely aware of our concerns.
This is one of the many reasons why your continual membership of EWC is so vital to retain (y)our independent voice of the industry.
Under these difficult circumstances, the Port of Cape Town has performed well, as the below stats for week 24 – 30 August indicate:
- CTCT : 13528 TEU handled, target 14065; 20 GCH target 22, 48.5 SWH target 38; 30.6 hours wind delay; 540 rail moves; 36% stack occupancy
- FPT: Berth Occupancy: 54% ; 9 vessels handled, 5 Multi Cargo, 2 container, 1 B/B ; 1 cement; 4146 TEU handled; A Berth : 2522 TEU; B/B 1320.12 MT; B/B cement : 7892 MT; 1480 pallets fruit
- CTMPT : Nil
- Fruit : Citrus season almost at an end with 15% lower than 24/25 season
