Good morning, Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to our 1st Good News Friday and It’s great to back!

Our wish for 2026 is for less wind, more rain and fully operational and manned equipment in our terminals.

We aim to focus on sharing the good news this year and as an independent association, we enter the year with great excitement and many challenges…

One of our objectives is to ensure that the PoCT resolves the issue of wind delays and learns from global best practice, taking a leaf from Rotterdam’s book, as their equipment works up to wind speeds of 120kph – why can’t we?

On that note, we are proposing that, as EWC, host a working forum, wherein input is provided by the key agriculture sector stakeholders, to have a ‘bosberaad’, sitting around the same table and talk turkey

Surely, if we have the passion for the Western Cape and the fruit sector to achieve the greatness it deserves,   we can all come together as one united body, to resolve the challenges faced, or am I dreaming?

We are already achieving phenomenal figures in this sector, for the current season – stats will be provided next week, to substantiate this.

As EWC we will be at the forefront of any development to enhance our economy and already support, inter alia,  the Cape Wineland’s Airport (CWA) , the SkyTrain and its peripheral development; CTCT extension & Capacity improvement,

We need to live by the adage ’If Transnet works, South Africa works”!

Please note, our next function is on Thursday 5th February we will feature Hong Kong as a Gateway to China and the export opportunities offered in the region,

Invitations will be in your inbox shortly.

See you on board –be part of the positive change – join us!

We are proud of our 46- year heritage!
