Dear Colleagues

It was with great sadness that we heard of the passing of Mike Walwyn last week, a stalwart of our industry – he will be missed and has left a void that will be difficult to fill.

We send our condolences to the Walwyn family.

On Friday EWC had a formidable engagement with Nicky Weimar, Chief Economist of one of the big 4 banks, who painted a very positive picture of where our economy is headed with exports playing a major role in this.

This past  Monday EWC was fortunate enough to be invited to the launch of one of olive oil exporters, of which we have some of the best in the world, of their product into the USA, and our Premier, Alan Winde, officiated at this auspices occasion.

Now we are heading to our final engagement of the current financial year, with Executive Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis giving the keynote address which is going to be a phenomenal way to end this year.

As we house full for this event, trust you have already RSVP’d!

Back to our terminals for week 15 – 21 July:

• CTCT : 14495 TEU handled, target 16013 ranging & heavy swells with 24 hour stoppafge in Friday due toi hight winds, however 2970 TEU handled on Subnday 21st ; 13 GCH 25 SWH; 64% day shift 36% night shift,584 rail moves 38% stack occupancy
• CTMPT: 224 TEU handled target 288; 11 GCH, 12 SWH- only operational on Monday 15th 2% stack occupancy – not a good week as most of reefer plug points damaged by weather as well
• FPT:      82% berth occupancy, 9 vessels handled: 3 multi cargo, 2 BB, 3 container & 1 Layby : 3145 TEU Handled, B/B General 8927.53 MT; B/B cement 7626 MT; B/B Fruit : 5768 MT ; excellent performance!
• Equipment : 7 of 9 STS gantries operational : LC3 & LC7 out of commission, 24 RTGs and 44 hauliers in operation

Comment : As both CTCT and CTMPT are fluid, berthing vessels on arivival, why are shippinf lines either bypassing the PoCT or raising a congestion surhcarge?

Food for though!

Stay warm, stay well, stay exporting!
