The World Bank 2025 CPPI report has certainly set the cat amongst the pigeons, and it has been most interesting to see the responses, however, that is for another day!
The breaking news received this morning and is certainly good news for our importers, proving that sanity prevails, is the withdrawal of the planned PvoC for Chinese imports, which was to be implement on 20th September.
This proves again that if we fight things collectively, we can win! Thank you for listening to us SABS!
On the sidelines of the Fleming delegations visit to the PoCT, after signing an MOU in January between the ports of Bruges/Antwerp and Cape Town, we were hosted by the Belgum Consul Geneal in Cape Town, Nicolas Fierans Gevaert, to a working lunch on Tuesday, 23rd June.
What an interesting and eclectic group got together with the common goal of improving trade links and addressing challenges.
The Port Stats for week 15 – 21 June as follows:
- CTCT : 18534 TEU target 16025; 17 GCH target 22; 39.1 SWH target 38; 32 hours wind delay – terminal recovered quicklywith 4251 TEU and 4131 TEU on 19th 7 20th respectively; 667 rail moves; 36% stack occupancy
- CTMPT – nil!
- FPT : 88% berth occupancy, 12 vessels handled, 4 multi cargo, 3 container, 4 Dry bulk; 1 B/B steel; 6394 tEU handled; 23813 MT Dry Bulk, 69.4 MT B/B; B/B Steel : 9289 MT; 4281 pallets fruit
- Fruit :Citrus season will be at its peak within the next 2 weeks and by all accounts it will be a bumper crop again this year
Note: Good performances from all terminals, excluding CTMPT where hopefully we shouid note improvement within the next few weeks.
