This has been an incredible week and in no small measure thanks to our Minister of Transport, Barbara Creecy’s, address to Western Cape stakeholders on Tuesday.

For those who were fortunate enough to be present in the auditorium, one of comments received reflects the mood of the engagement “a very refreshing talk and no death by PowerPoint”

This has opened the door for further engagements with the Minister, and highlighted the relevance of Exporters Western Cape, as being the independent spokesperson for the industry, who over 46 years has remained true to our core values.

We were honored that delegates from the concurrent WESGRO Air Cargo Conference were also able to join us on Tuesday, thank you to Wrenelle Stander, WESGRO CEO, who facilitated this – we are better together!

Our ongoing relationship with TNPA is one of the main cornerstones of our success – if Transnet works, South Africa works!

Our terminals also had a good week, as reflected below:

Stats for week 25 – 31 May:

• CTCT: 18727 TEU handled, target 16007 (each day exceeded 2000 TEU, 28th 3601 TEU) ; 15 GCH target 22; SWH 33.7 target 38; intermittent fog delays; 36%-night moves; 476 Rail moves  40% stack occupancy
• CTMPT : not a good eek as only 186 TEU handled, however number of planned vessels for the next few weeks moving on an uptick – next week should reflect this
• FPT :  80% berth occupancy: 10 Vessels handled: 3 Multi cargo, 2 containers, 2 Dry Bulk, 1 Dry Bulk – Direct Ops, 1 B/B; 1 Cement: 605 TEU, 31577.96 MT B/B;  4802.1 Dry Bulk Direct Ops; B/B 7290.22MT; Cement : 16004 MT; 2619 pallets fruit
• Fruit : 13% increase from 24/25 period – will have a full update next week.
