Dear Colleagues

Amidst all the doom and gloom, there is a massive ray of light this week.
As noted earlier this week EWC postponed our AGM to Thursday 14th September to ensure we could meet, on your behalf, with TNPA, at the quarterly stakeholder engagement on Tuesday.
This was a marathon session as at the outset it was decided that we would not leave the boardroom until industry had their say and a plan formulated on the way forward.

Suffice to say, after 6 hours there was consensus in the room and we all left with a spring in our step!

We will keep you in the loop as we are still in the process of collating all the information, so watch this space.

The weekly performance stats as follows: (28/08 – 03/09)

CTCT : 12806 TEU handled, GCH 9 and SWH 19 – below par due to equipment challenges, with 3 gantries out and RTG only 12 operational (should be 30) and only 1 hydraulic unit in use, 315 rail moves and 15% night moves
CTMPT : 2545 TEU handled (target 2196) for 2nd week in a row, exceeded target!  14 GCH (target 16)13 SWH (target 19) –
FPT:  5 vessels handled, 1 container, 3 Multi cargo, 1 Breakbulk : 371 TEU, 3841.58 MT Dry Bulk, 2609.28 General Cargo B/B; fruit : 6043 pallets
Fruit: 11% below forecast for the year, look at 21% growth for the coming season due to good winter rains, essential we get our port to full capacity again!

Housekeeping: As our AGM is Thursday, 14th, still time to ensure your attendance, pay your membership fees and submit your applications to join the EWC committee.

We are planning on having a VIP to provide our keynote address at the AGM so do ensure you join us on the 14th at the CTICC.

We are committed to ensuring the success of all Western Cape exporters.

Have an incredible week!

ULONWABO!!
