Dear Friends

Today we launch GNW – Good News Wednesday as the news is so good it cannot wait until Friday!
Of course, many will be taking advantage of the holidays and make this an extended long weekend.

Let’s start with the fact the port of Cape Town has moved from number 8 4 weeks ago to number 50 on the most congested ports globally.
This is quite an achievement considering 4 weeks ago, we had 16 vessels waiting in the bay, some with over 400 hours waiting time, to nil today and berthing on arrival!

The terminals performed in accordance with this for week 17 – 23 April:

CTCT : 16128 TEU with fog delays of 4.5 hours and ranging at Q601 where there are no tension units installed; 16% night moves & 304 rail moves;
Out of the 7 day period, only Friday 21st recorded below 2000TEU, at 1731 p/day – a good average
CTMPT: 2023 TEU out of target of 900, with Saturday 22nd seeing 786 TEU moved – a vast improvement from the previous week of just over 200TEU.
FPT :  40% stack occupancy; 6 vessels: 3 Dry Bulk; 1 Container; 3 Multi- purpose; 542 TEU, Dry Bulk 4969.8 Mt; Canola 11592.75 MT; B/Bulk 2386.85 MT & Fruit 535 pallets

Enjoy the weekend – see you next Friday!
