The Past week/s – 27 February 2026

What a tumultuous few week this been...

Dear Colleagues

What a tumultuous few week this been!

After the city hosting the largest Mining Indaba to date, the opening of Parliament & subsequent SONA, and Donald Trump still trying to comprehend what AGOA is all about, EWC carries on quietly behind the scenes.

The demise of SAAFF’s Western Cape Chapter has raised more questions than answers and we are still trying to understand the reasons behind this, as our chapter was extremely pro-active, in particular with their engagements with SARS

The Western Cape is different from the other provinces, in every way, not only politically but functionality as, dare I say, the only province that works!!

This is part of EWC’s success as we focus on this region and have done so for the past 46 years! We are here for YOU!!!

In our quarterly PCC (Port Consultative Committee) yesterday, we were aware of the importance of EWC’s engagement with DoT , as we represent the cargo owners, freight forwarders, road hauliers & landside logistics, on the PCC.

The EWC presentation included, inter alia, the truck booking system, trucker delays at the terminals, stack days over weekends, communication issues, vessels bypassing PoCT and communication (or lack thereof) with the shipping lines.

We have now put on the table to TNPA that EWC facilitates an imbizo with ALL stakeholders on board to iron the issues that can be resolved if we all work together! Watch this space for further details.

The stats for the terminals for week 8 (16 – 23 February as follows):
