We start off this week with the good news that the Transnet strike is over!
On that note, our belief is the strike could have been averted had the unions engaged at the quarterly PCC meetings, which to date, neither UNTU nor SATAWU attended!
Message to the unions : Prevention is better than cure – be proactive, not reactive!
Work is starting to return to a sense of normalcy and we see rapid improvement within the coming weeks
Of course, this being Cape Town, the wind is now hampering work and causing delays in the working of the vessels.
Berthing delays : 4 container vessels at anchorage
CTCT : MSC Acapulco & Nile Dutch Lion alongside
7 gangs working, 6 waterside & 1 landside
9th gantry being tested and should be in operation shortly.
CTMPT : not operational however, an MSC vessel scheduled to berth over the weekend
A big thank you to Transnet for their daily engagements with industry with strike updates – we are better together!
Have a safe & pleasant weekend!
