TRANSNET STAKEHOLDER PORT OPERATION STATUS UPDATE

Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) would like to advise stakeholders of the status of operations at the Port of Cape Town (PoCT) following inclement weather conditions experienced in Cape Town from 7-14 July 2024....

Dear Valued Customers and Stakeholders

STATUS UPDATE ON PORT OPERATIONS AT THE PORT OF CAPE TOWN

Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) would like to advise stakeholders of the status of operations at the Port of Cape Town (PoCT) following inclement weather conditions experienced in Cape Town from 7-14 July 2024.

The PoCT operations have been ongoing, dependent on navigational safety conditions and when the weather permits. Weather recovery plans have been activated by the TNPA and various terminal operators to mitigate the weather delays and reduce the current shipping backlog.

During this time, the PoCT experienced challenges with the pilot boat and as an interim measure, the PoCT has been making use of the workboat when the swell height and sea conditions allow. We anticipate the pilot boat will be back in commission by Thursday, 18 July 2024.

We would like to thank all our valued stakeholders for your patience and understanding during this period. The TNPA will continue to keep stakeholders updated of developments by means of the existing communication platforms.

Yours sincerely,

Ophelia Shabane
