The following highlights are worth noting:
- Global container throughput and updates:
- Global container throughput reached 17.1 million TEUs in June, down -1.7% (m/m) but up +5.5% (y/y).
- SSA trade remained positive, with exports up +4.1% (m/m) and imports still +13.3% (y/y).
- North Asian congestion surged, stranding more than 2.4 million TEU of capacity following Typhoon Dolphin.
- Strait of Hormuz traffic remains heavily restricted, with only two outbound containership passages last week.
- Suez traffic is gradually recovering, with CMA CGM and Maersk returning three additional services via Bab el-Mandeb.

- South African air cargo for July:
- International air cargo remained resilient, up +0.4% (m/m) and +9% (y/y) in July.
- Durban led monthly growth at +25%, followed by Cape Town at +8%, while Johannesburg declined by -2%.
- Domestic air cargo strengthened, increasing by +2% (m/m) and +3% (y/y).
- Johannesburg and Durban rose +10% and +9%, respectively, while Cape Town fell -13% (m/m).
- All three major terminals remained above July 2025 levels across both international and domestic cargo.
- International air cargo remained resilient, up +0.4% (m/m) and +9% (y/y) in July.
