Fresh Produce Export Forum Event

SPEAKERS:

In collaboration with the Fresh Produce Exporters Forum, we hosted an exceptional evening dedicated to the thriving fresh produce export industry. As the number one fruit-exporting country in the southern hemisphere, we were privileged to gather some of the major players in the market for this full-house event.

The evening was an invaluable opportunity to review our performance, identify areas for improvement, and reinforce our commitment to mutual support within the industry. As always, Terry was captivating, sharing insights from his recent trip to the Netherlands, emphasising the importance of collectively facing challenges.

Anton Kruger provided an essential overview of the Fresh Produce Exporters Forum (FPEF) and reflected on the past season. Despite numerous challenges, we proudly remain the top exporter of fresh produce in the southern hemisphere. Antoniette van Heerden shared crucial logistics updates, ensuring everyone was informed about the latest fresh produce exporting sector developments.

Lastly, Jacques and Carsten spoke about a project they are working on together—a digital supply chain model, or “digital twin.” This innovative tool, currently used for table grapes, aims to combat inefficiencies within the supply chain by running different scenarios and identifying key optimisation options within the supply chain. It is designed to be easily adaptable to other fruit sectors.

Another resounding successful evening with EWC, underscoring the vital role of the fresh fruit exporting business for the Western Cape. It was a testament to the collective efforts and forward-thinking of our industry.
