The GNU (Government of National Unity) buzzword and its impact on the global & local investment market.

SPEAKERS:

Our October EWC function, was stage to a thought provoking talk by Louis Niemand, Investment Director at Ninety One. Delivering a compelling talk on the current aspiration towards a climate of confidence in South Africa, especially in light of the new government leadership—and what it will take for South Africa to enter a period of sustainable growth regarding the investment markets.

Louis provided in-depth insights into how this renewed government focus, as well as a number of global factors,  could influence investment sentiment and shape South Africa’s business environment. He explored the potential for the nation to move toward a period of sustained growth that could bolster the local business community which in turn will attract increased foreign investment.

His perspective underscored the critical role that both government action and business adaptability play in the journey towards economic resilience. Outlining key themes that will  shape the investment landscape.

Closer to home, he noted that while the GNU’s focus on key state-owned enterprises like Eskom, SANRAL, and Transnet might be promising, the impact of any new policies will take time, with tangible benefits unlikely to be experienced before mid-next year.

His insights offered a wealth of knowledge, leaving us with much to consider as we navigate an evolving investment climate and continuously work toward economic resilience.

Another amazing event  that again truly captures the essence of what we strive for at the Exporters Western Cape – at the forefront of Industry!
