What an absolutely fantastic last event for EWC’s financial year.
As if having the stunning FNB flagship building with magnificent city views as our backdrop wasn’t enough, we were incredibly honoured to have our City of Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis, deliver the keynote address.
He was truly transparent and explained the positive initiatives and changes we can continue to expect in the coming years under his leadership guidance. (The importance of keeping up infrastructure investment, improving the ease of doing business in Cape Town, the implementation of a fully automated system to apply for permission to install solar systems and feedback into the system, combating the crime rates by providing extra training and using the current police force more effectively through technology, etc. ) He further instilled a sense of great changes, both us as the public and our local government can expect with some practical examples from his recent requests and interactions with the newly formed GNU – and how it has contributed to a change in attitude and mood in government.
Although he mostly spoke about the broad scope of changes and initiatives he is undertaking, he also ensured that exporting and the status of the CPT harbour formed top priority on his list.
Again, what a phenomenal evening and a fitting conclusion to our financial year. Thanks again, Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis, for your presence and interaction with our members.
